Credentials

Mr Henry Maxwell has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for over 28 years. He graduated from the Victoria University of Manchester in 1983 and was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Lower limb surgeon at Hope Hospital Salford, a teaching hospital, in 1996.

During his training he undertook a two-year research fellowship at the Centre for Hip Surgery at Wrightington Hospital, UK. culminating in the award of the higher degree of Master of Surgery (ChM) in 1995. Following his formal training, Mr Maxwell undertook a lower limb fellowship in Boston, USA. Approximately 30% of his practice is foot and ankle surgery, 50% knee surgery and 20% hip surgery.

 

Foot and Ankle

Mr Maxwell has extensive expertise in soft tissue injuries, sports injuries, deformities of the foot and ankle as well as painful foot conditions. He performs keyhole surgery of the ankle and great toe, corrective surgery for midfoot and hindfoot and has considerable expertise in complex foot disorders and revision foot surgery.

 

Knee

Mr Maxwell is referred acute, chronic and sports related knee injuries. He performs major elective knee surgery. He offers arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, total knee joint replacement surgery. He is one of a relatively small group of surgeons trained in current methods for the treatment of joint surface injury including microfracture techniques and chondrocyte transplantation (relining of the knee joint surface).

 

Hip and Pelvis

Mr Maxwell has extensive expertise of painful groin, pelvic and sacroiliac conditions. Mr Maxwell has performed arthroscopic hip surgery (keyhole) throughout his Consultant career and is one of a relatively small number of surgeons in the UK who perform arthroscopic surgery of the hip joint, beneficial in the diagnosis and treatment of painful hip disorders and injuries in young adults. In addition he regularly performs conventional hip replacement.
